Saturday afternoon, my friend Amber married her boyfriend of four years, Matt, in one of the most emotionally-charged wedding ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed.
As the bridesmaids took turns dabbing their eyes with tissues hidden in their bouquets, several of the groomsmen struggled to suppress their feelings, and after the groom lost his composure, even the minister choked up. Through it all — except for one overwhelming moment during her vows — Amber remained a radiantly smiling bride. She beamed so bright, I thought she might burst out laughing with pure joy.
My own maid of honor, Amanda, served that role again today. Amber and Matt’s church friends had decorated the sanctuary with lovely greenery, a church member baked and decorated the elegant cake, and the creative coordinator even set up a surprise multi-dimensional photo collage by the gift tables. It was a beautiful day, sure to be the beginning of an even more beautiful and fulfilling marriage.
Happy honeymoon, you two!
