‘Tis the Season — for 4 More Weddings

What a weekend!  [Note: I originally wrote this post including just three weddings — then discovered I had omitted a pair I’ve known for years, who moved back to Japan in 2007.]

On Saturday, my husband’s dear family friend, Grace, married her new husband Brian at a Presbyterian church just outside of Seoul, South Korea.  The two Chicagoans  decided to hold their nuptials in the bride’s parents’ homeland, where many of Grace’s relatives still live.  That worked out perfectly for Brian’s family — all from the Philippines.

Grace was the wonderful pianist at my own wedding last month, and my new sister-in-law Christine served as her maid of honor.

About a two-hour flight south, in Japan, my old friend Waka married her longtime love, Keigo, in a traditional Japanese ceremony, followed by a Christmas-themed reception in which she donned a gorgeous wedding gown embellished with silver beaded flowers.  Keigo even made an appearance as Santa Claus during the festivities!

That same day — but roughly 13 hours later, given the time difference, my friend Meredith married her beloved Joshua in Ormond Beach, Florida, followed by a reception at LPGA International (where I had my reception as well!).  Three of my friends were bridesmaids in that winter-wonderland themed wedding.

And on Sunday afternoon, Matt and Rachel, the son and new daughter-in-law of close family friends, married in Daytona Beach at an all-purple wedding for the purple-loving bride, followed by a full holiday feast at their reception, complete with turkey and stuffing.

Now all four couples are off enjoying their first Christmas together in both hemispheres.  All the best to all eight of you!
